after graduating college, my family and I (mom, dad, sister, grandma) took a road trip to portland as a celebratory family trip. my last family trip before officially entering adulthood and leaving the house. i remember feeling like a child and an adult all at once, wavering between independent and dependent. i remember how hot that summer was, the heat reaching record-breaking temperatures. i remember how the five of us were packed into our car, and how opening the windows and letting the breeze in got us cooler than the ac did. i remember listening to the theme song of portlandia on repeat with my sister in the backseat.
